Another object lesson in persistence

I learned yesterday that Eric Heideman at Tales of the Unanticipated has accepted my story “Ashes, Ashes” for issue #30, due out next year.

This one sets a new record for me:  it was accepted on its 24th submission (counting a rewrite request from Eric).

Rules 4 and 5, my friends.  Rules 4 and 5.

Now, I haven’t done this with every story of mine.  Some I’ve trunked after making the rounds.  But this one had garnered many encouraging rejections along the way, and I still believed in the piece.

And it doesn’t hurt that I’m bone stubborn, I suppose.

I am pleased.
